UBS snags Morgan Stanley advisor in California

Christopher Toregas, managing director and senior portfolio manager at UBS Wealth Management USA, with administrator Stephanie Ellor.

The latest hire at UBS boasts a bicoastal book, with clients across both Southern California and New York City.

UBS is wasting no time expanding its profile in the wealth space as it welcomes a West Coast-based advisory team. UBS Wealth Management USA announced the addition of Christopher Toregas and his team to its Century City office in Los Angeles as part of its strategic expansion.

Toregas, who joins UBS as a managing director and senior portfolio manager, brings more than a decade of expertise in the wealth industry. Most previously, he led the Next-Gen Wealth Management group at Morgan Stanley.

Kreg Pearless, market director at UBS Los Angeles, expressed enthusiasm about the new addition.

“As one of the fastest growing financial advisors in the country, Christopher works with some of the most successful families in Southern California, New York City and beyond,” Pearless said in a statement Friday. “Their dedication to clients and rapid growth over the years will be a great addition to our business, and we are proud to welcome them to UBS,” he said.

Toregas and his team will be operating under the leadership of Pearless and Lauren Gorsche, who’s the market executive for the Los Angeles market division of UBS’s wealth arm.

Toregas’s team is known for its specialized services in pre-liquidity planning and wealth management for notable professionals in the entertainment industry, business owners, and corporate executives.

The team’s focus primarily spans across New York and Southern California, reflecting a bicoastal reach that aligns with UBS’s client engagement strategies. Toregas’s reputation is bolstered by accolades from Forbes and New York Magazine, highlighting his impact and recognition within the industry.

Stephanie Ellor, joining as team administrator, completes the high-profile advisory group transitioning to UBS.

The news of Toregas joining UBS umbrella comes hot on the heels of another announcement by the firm Friday about two Goldman Sachs advisors joining its private wealth arm in New York City.
